To help you care for your hair and keep it as gorgeous as possible, we’ve pulled together a list of the best tips for caring for your beautiful blonde locks.

**All the products mentioned in this article are available at our Salon 🙂

Choosing a shampoo and conditioner: As a blonde, you should be gentle and wash your hair less, twice a week ideally. When it comes to choosing a shampoo and conditioner, look for formulas designed specifically for maintaining and protecting your color. Always avoid anything harsh or stripping and opt for sulfate-free products, this goes for any hair type. To maintain your tone and keep your color from turning brassy, look for purple shampoos that aren’t overly clarifying.  Our Kevin Murphy Blonde Angel Rinse is the perfect purple shampoo, it will refresh blonde tones, enhance color, brighten, and restore shine.

For days that you aren’t washing your hair with purple shampoo, our NOUNOU shampoo and conditioner is highly recommended by our stylists. This is a nourishing shampoo for highly processed or brittle hair…and it smells AMAZING!

Another one of our top selling product is our MINU shampoo and conditioner, this is an illuminating protective shampoo for colored hair, perfect for your beautiful hair. This is also perfect for the days you aren’t using your purple shampoo.

Keeping it hydrated: If you’re not a natural blonde it generally means your hair is damaged and dehydrated, in other words extremely thirsty! You’ve got to nourish it daily with a leave in-treatment like our MOMO hair potion that will repair and hydrate thirsty hair.

Another great product for dehydrated hair is our OI All in One Milk Oil. This multi-benefit oil is for all hair types and adds shine, softness, silkiness, controls frizz, moisturizes a great detangle, heat protectant, and gives body without weighing down.

Protecting it from heat: Hot tools aren’t good for any color hair, but they’re especially damaging to blonde hair. But since you’re probably going to style your hair regardless, it’s essential to minimize the damage. Take extra precaution with heat styling because blonde hair is essentially more dried out to begin with. Lay off the blow dryer every now and again and let your hair air dry, but if you must use heat tools, our stylist recommend that you try a heat protecting spray like our MELU hair shield that shields your hair from damage.

Keeping it safe from water:  It is summer time, and avoiding the pool is next to impossible. As blondes, we’re paranoid every dip into the pool is going to turn our beautiful blonde hair into an unpleasant shade of greenL. This is definitely a risk but there’s a lot you can do to guard your hair against this. Wearing a swimming cap is the ultimate shield, but lets be realistic, most of us won’t do this. To fight the chemicals before and after you swim, you have to apply either conditioner or water (natural like a water bottle) to create a barrier between chlorine or slat water. After you are done swimming make sure to wash your hair as soon as possible to get off any of the residue chemicals or salt water from your hair.

Masks:  Mask are your best friend! Especially those that are formulated for colored hair. Try using one at least once a week. Our MINU hair mask is formulated for colored hair, all you have to do is leave it in for 10-15 minutes and voilà!

Our stylist also recommend the NOUNOU hair mask. It is a nourishing repainting mask for highly processed or brittle hair. This stuff is awesooome…just sayin’.

Styling: Find a dry shampoo that works for you, like Davines Hair Refresh this will help you out on the days that you aren’t washing your hair. This dry shampoo makes your hair look and feel like brand new without leaving a powdery finish (this stuff smells amazing btw). Refreshing your hair without shampooing will help keep the color for longer. One of my favorite ways to use dry shampoo to give my hair a little bit of volume is to spray it almost like hairspray starting at the roots and then spraying all over :).

Another great tip from our stylist is to get regular trims. With your hair being constantly bleached, it is more prone to breakage. Blow dry on the cooler setting, especially if you have to blow dry every day. This will help with some major damage that hot air can cause. Use Davines Volume Boosting Mouse for a long lasting blow out that will hydrate hair without weighing it down.

For a beachy look adding Davines Sea Salt Spray to your blonde locks will help give texture and bring out any natural curls your hair might have.  This spray adds volume, lifts, and does not have a sticky residue that will make your hair hard or crunchy.

When you are done blow drying your hair or styling according to your preference, we recommend using Davines Invisible No Gas Spray.  This hair spray gives a natural soft brushable hold while leaving the hair with a touchable finish it is humidity resistant with a flexible hold. This is the perfect hair spray for achieving beautiful tousled looks.
